2 Timothy 2:15

Be diligent to present yourself approved unto God, a worker who does not need to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.

He further advocates a need for our understanding of the fact each believer, has a gift and is also a gift.

1 Timothy 4:15

Do not neglect the gift that is in you, which was given to you by prophecy with the laying on of hands of the eldership
